It was over ten years ago when Hyland took over Nashville and I last took the general session stage at CommunityLIVE (at that time called the OnBase Training & Technology Conference). For those that don’t know my background, I started my career in Content Services at Hyland as a Product Evangelist.

This year will be my 12th CommunityLIVE. Now, I did miss the conference in 2008 when my son was born, but I’ve been there ever since. Now many of you might be thinking, “is it really worth going to the conference every year?” I’m here to tell you, YES!!!

New OnBase Features
As you know, Hyland provides a major release to OnBase each year. CommunityLIVE is an ideal opportunity to understand the new features available and what they can mean for your organization. Whether you are new to OnBase or if you’ve been drinking the Kool-Aid for years – there is a session for everyone. Here’s a link to download the full agenda, but here are some sessions I’m excited to see:

  • Accelerating WorkView Development with Ticketing Frameworks
  • Image Forms as a Component of Your Customer Communication Strategy
  • Introduction to OnBase 18 Import and Export Framework and Test Environment Creation
  • Mobile WorkView Solutions
  • Unity Combined Viewer

Hyland Just Isn’t OnBase Anymore
What makes this year’s conference more important than ever is that Hyland just isn’t OnBase anymore. One of the benefits of Hyland’s acquisition of Perceptive Software is that it opened the door to more technology connected to the world’s leading Content Services platform. Hyland has spent the last 12 months integrating some of the key components of the Perceptive portfolio into the Hyland ecosystem. Below are some of the sessions that highlight some of those new products like Brainware, Content Composer, Enterprise Search and Media Manager:

  • Accessing Organizational Insight through Enterprise Search
  • Hyland’s Roadmap for Automating All of Your Financial Processes
  • Meet Content Composer
  • OnBase Media Manager & Streaming Video
  • The Brainware Difference: What’s Inside Makes the Difference

CommunityLIVE is More Than a Conference
Outside of the 350+ sessions you can attend, one of the biggest benefits of CommunityLIVE is the networking with your peers in the Content Services world. Not only do you get to spend time with the crew at Kiriworks and Hyland, but you get to speak and learn from people doing what you do on a daily basis. Whether you want to talk to another System Administrator, an AP Manager, a CIO or someone in your same industry – there will be thousands of people to connect with at CommunityLIVE.

One of the best memories of CommunityLIVE is when I took the general session stage in Nashville in 2007. Of course I was nervous, but from a sea of 2,000 people I could hear members from the Credit Union VOGUE cheering me on! This event just isn’t a technology conference, it truly is a community of likeminded people coming together to celebrate each other and the technology that impacts our lives each and every day.

Submit or Not to Submit? That is the AOR question.

Appointment of Representative, (aka the AOR) always seems to be a topic of conversation in the healthcare payer space. Every show we attend, every customer we talk with and every industry function we attend, there are intense conversations and differing opinions on what is required by CMS. Do you only submit an AOR once? Do you need to submit a […]

New CMS Guidance

As part of an initiative to streamline the Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug appeals and grievance processes, CMS has consolidated Chapter 13 of the Medicare Managed Care Manual and Chapter 18 of the Prescription Drug Benefit Manual into one comprehensive guidance document. They are doing this to better align and provider a more defined, straightforward and non-repetitive understanding of […]

Your Best Teacher Is Your Last Mistake

5…4…3… 2…1 🚀, it’s time to move forward and discover the power of you! This is the message behind the 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins. It’s a cool, powerful self-help concept I was introduced to while listening to Mel speak recently at Hyland Software’s CommunityLive event in Nashville, TN. Embracing that concept I say 5…4…3… 2…1 it’s time to […]

Member Communication: Less Is Not More.

There is no way to sugar coat it – Medicare Advantage plans are not meeting their customer satisfaction goals. Surveys prove it, with satisfaction having dropped from 2017 to 2018. One of the main drivers for the discouraging results is a lack of communication. Health plans are not leveraging communication strategies to engage members even though it’s the most effective […]

You Can’t Manage What You Can’t See – Thoughts from the Optimizing Appeals & Grievances Conference

Much of the discussion last week at the Optimizing Appeals & Grievances and Improving ODAG & CDAG Outcomes Conference centered around accountability and company culture.  There was also a great deal of attention given towards the ability to pull Universes on demand.  These topics along with better ways to manage your day to day workloads are common challenges we hear from […]

Building a Strong Network: It Takes an Empowered Team

Life is full of different experiences. Take a moment to think about the last really good experience you had. What was it about the experience that made it so positive? Now think about the last horrible experience you had. What was it that made the experience so poor? I’m betting that the factors behind why your experience was positive or […]
