Roughly half of healthcare payments are currently made through value-based reimbursement models. What’s more, CMS set a goal of having 100% of traditional Medicare beneficiaries and the majority of Medicaid beneficiaries in accountable care relationships by 2030. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has prioritized health equity in its Star Ratings. Furthermore, a recent survey found that 58% of health systems identified health equity as a top priority, up from only 25% in 2019.

Experian Health surveyed 200 revenue cycle executives to better understand the impact of staffing shortages on reimbursement. It found that 96% of survey respondents report a lack of qualified workers has a “detrimental impact” on revenue channels. What’s more, 80% of respondents report department turnover rates as high as 40%, much higher than the national average of 3.8%.
